THE WILLIAMS MUSEUM

Our Patron
We are pleased to announce that Bishop Te Kitohi Pikaahu ONZM has agreed to become Patron of the Henry and William Williams Memorial Museum Trust. Bishop Kito has a long connection with the Māori Anglican Church, with Northland communities, and with organisations associated with the Williams family.
Bishop Kito replaces the late Elizabeth, Lady Reed who with her husband, Sir Nigel Reed, gave their unstinting support to the Trust and its work from its inception.

Bishop Kito, Bishop of Te Tai Tokerau.
Introductory Note
While the 'Retreat' is currently not open on a regular basis, this 'virtual museum' enables you to view the house and garden, items from a collection of family possessions, and learn something of the history of the pioneering missionary brothers, Henry and William Williams, and their families. Collectively they played an important part in shaping relationships between Māori and Pakeha in Aotearoa/New Zealand in the early to mid nineteenth century.
